Analysis of the latest publications in professional periodicals today occupies a special place in the field of communications: firstly, it acts as a filter, demonstrating scientific achievements and gaps that require deeper study; secondly, its results serve as a guide for further research; thirdly, thanks to such analysis, new methodological approaches are developed that are relevant to the current situation of uncertainty. An analytical review of articles published in highly rated journals focused on the problems of the communication sphere allowed us to identify a number of the most pressing topics that make up the discursive field of communication studies today: the need for self-determination of the communication sphere in the situation of the “new reality”; the role of crisis communication in modern society, understood as problem management; issues of public opinion formation and the problem of trust; the place of digitalization in communication processes and its consequences. The authors managed to identify a number of universal thematic areas successfully developed by foreign and domestic scientists. These include: the process of mediatization and transgression as a new turn in its deployment; formation of the metaverse; creation of ecosystems, etc. Approaches to solving acute communication problems related, first of all, to crisis situations were outlined. An important conclusion that the authors draw from the results of the analytical review is the urgent need for an interdisciplinary approach in the study of communication phenomena and processes. It is this methodological principle, which involves the integration of ideas not only from the communication sciences themselves, but also from philosophy, economics, politics, cultural studies and other branches of scientific knowledge, that opens up the possibility of an innovative approach to interdisciplinary comprehensive research in situations of uncertainty and instability.

The paper presents the results of a media linguistic study of Telegram discourse as a segment of the Internet viewed in a system of characteristics determined by the multimedia organization of communication in the social network. The objective of the research is to work out relevant parameters for analyzing Telegram discourse as a format, taking into account both linguistic and extralinguistic factors. The methodology is based on the advantages of Discourse analysis, Internet linguistics, Media linguistics about the language of electronic interaction, functional varieties of speech, multimodality of discourse, changes in the quality of textuality in new technological conditions. The Telegram discourse format is interpreted as a set of parameters that organize its content and determine its functioning in a digital environment. A case study method has been applied. The material for the analysis presents a selection of 922 messages posted on Telegram about labor migration from September to December 2023. Two analyzed channels cover more than 200 thousand subscribers. It is explained that the ontology and the functioning of Telegram discourse is motivated by extralinguistic reasons. To prove that, the analysis of the technical and multimedia properties of the messenger, the structure of Telegram communication, the combinations of semiotic systems is carried out. The author draws the conclusion about the polyparametricity of the format of Telegram discourse, realized through modularity, dialogicity, hypertextuality, and convergence. A case study on migrant workers reveals changes of the quality of the written speech in the digital discourse and its transformation into the written-and-spoken variety. The results of the research open up prospects for further development of the problems of formatting discourse against the backdrop of virtualization of social practices.

The article analyzes advertising texts covering the real estate market in modern media discourse. The issue of language strategies and tactics of advertising media texts of residential complexes (LCs) owned by authors demonstrating different approaches to this advertising product is considered. Through linguostylistic, functional-grammatical and comparative analyses, a conclusion is made about the choice of the following argumentation tactics as language strategies: emotional, rational and mixed. Emotional tactics are implemented through an appeal to basic human needs: for example, to comfort and coziness (the normal state of a person, manifested in self-care and satisfaction with one’s life); to join the circle of privileged people close to the recipient of the advertising message, etc. Rational tactics involve the use of facts, statistical data, an appeal to reason, and a demonstration of the practical application of the advertised product. A combined (mixed) strategy is implemented by combining various tactics. The scientific novelty lies in the description of the modern advertising text of the residential complex in Perm, based on a multi-aspect analysis of speech strategies and tactics that realize the pragmatic goal of the advertising discourse of the residential complex in the linguistic and cultural space of Perm. In the process of work, such research methods as a descriptive method (collection and systematization of material), a quantitative-qualitative method, and a communicative-pragmatic method were used. The first made it possible to identify the main types of strategies and tactics that reflect the specifics of the commercial product of liquid crystals; the second showed the dynamics of linguistic means influenced by sociocultural factors. Using the communicative-pragmatic method, linguistic and speech units have been identified that represent various strategies of influence and verbalize the advantages of a particular housing complex.

The paper considers the problem of choosing the parameters of linguostatistical studies when comparing corpora of different semantics. The proposition is to be proven that the set of such parameters should include the models of sentences (structural diagrams) as the basic units of thought expression. It sets the task of programming the sentence structural patterns which are presented in the academic grammars of the Russian language as a complete closed list. A brief overview of works on linguostatistics is offered from the point of view of the choice of text analysis units. We examine the key theses of the psychological school of L. S. Vygotsky — A.N.Leontiev on the structure of consciousness elements to distinguish the components of attitude — affective, cognitive and behavioral. Based on the material of online discussions, three corpora (collections) of statements have been compiled, each embodies one of those components. The belonging of statements to a particular collection was determined by three expert psychologists (if only their assessment completely coincided). The linguistic analysis includes 1360 utterances — 269 affective, 859 cognitive and 232 behavioral. Then, 7 sentence models were selected and programmed which semantics coincides with the content of any of the attitude components. This consistency ensured the interpretability of the work results. The hypothesis on the effectiveness of a comparative study of corpora using the “sentence model” parameter was verified. Qualitative analysis of the material showed that collections are effectively differentiated by semantic variants of polysemous structural patterns. Quantitative analysis, taking into account only the most abstract semantics of the sentence model at this stage of work, made it possible to differentiate the collections of behavioral and affective types, but did not solve the problem for the collection of cognitive-type utterances. Further improvement of the research methodology includes the analysis of structural and semantic variants of polysemous sentence models.

It has been repeatedly proven that the speech of sports commentators is capable of manipulating the audience. However, there is a need for a study of how sports commentators cover officiating as part of sports discourse. The objective of this study is to determine the ways to present the work of sports officials in sports commentary. The materials for this study are comprised of transcripts from broadcasts of 5 football matches of the Russian Premier League 2023/24 season which, according to the expert officiating committee, involved refereeing errors. We have undertaken pragmatic, lexical and stylistic, speech act and conversation analysis in order to inquire how the sports commentators of the “Match TV” channel discuss difficult officiating decisions and frame the information about a potential refereeing error. These moments hold reputational risks for both the channel and the league since the words uttered by journalists and experts could have an impact on audience’s perception of an event, an officiating crew, and the Russian football industry as a whole. The study has shown that in controversial moments commentators attempt to demonstrate multiple perspectives (of referees, players, colleagues, experts) and, to express their opinion, employ a range of strategies: agreeing with the officials’ decision, using markers of uncertainty and doubt as to avoid uttering the only possible interpretation of an episode, switching the audience’s attention to other aspects of a match, implicitly and explicitly indicating a refereeing error. An explicit option is possible only provided that there are valid reasons and expert commentary or opinion of the majority contradicting the officials, but even in that case the face-threatening act directed at referees is redressed. In a dialogue, sports commentators examine multiple points of view and ways to interpret a difficult officiating decision during a football match.
